Dvina,

Welcome to the Group! In many ways, the answer to your first question
is "Yes." We're mostly volunteers who enjoy helping others. Some of
us are young, some not-so-young, some have full-time jobs, some are
retired, etc.

At first it can be overwhelming, but as you go along you'll begin to
understand lots of the routines. And, this List is the place to turn
whenever you're stumped, or just feel you need a reassuring second
opinion.

The fact that you're a Listowner means you'll be receiving quite a
bit of "behind the scenes" mail-- stuff that the regular members
won't see.

The two unsubscribe messages are examples of that. It's so we can
stay informed of what's happening on our List(s). They probably came
to you addressed to the "admin" for your List rather than with your
own name.

What you need to look for in such messages are the X-Diagnostic
lines, which will be near the end of the header. One of them will
tell you what has happened. In this case, it probably said something
to indicate that they had been unsubscribed. But you need to look,
because sometimes it says "Unprocessed," which means just that --
nothing happened to the subscriber's status.

Hang in there, read what other folks are having trouble with and how
someone else suggests they handle it, and keep asking questions when
you need to know something we haven't been discussing.

Best wishes!

JS
