Darrell, I think you are missing a bit of the point. The discussion
hasn't been about ONE listowner, already a long and trusted member of
another LO's list, posting once about their list. I think pretty much
everyone would agree that that is OK -- and on those lists where it
would NOT be OK, the subscribers are pretty clear about the strictness
with which the list is run!

However, sometimes, in an excess of enthusiasm, a new listowner subs to
numerous lists, posts their ad, and then unsubs. While some LOs might
not mind, many more DO. It is only common courtesy, in such cases, to
send the "ad" to the listowner hirself, for posting or discarding. I ask
all my subscribers to send off-topic or questionable material directly
to me, rather than just posting to the list. Usually I pass it on, but
that does save my list members virus warnings, smarmy poetry and other
junk.
