Most identity thieves use information that people themselves leave
around, like the carbons from their credit-card impressions, or the
credit card applications in the trash. I have never heard of a single
case of identity thieves using online info that is available for free,
to commit a crime. I'm not saying it has never happened, but I've never
heard of it.
