To add a little to Joan's response which is fundamentally correct.

Under the internet standards an address can be surrounded by < >, a
comment, ie. a name, by " " or ( )

So to have a valid email address it can be

<>
"No brainer"
"No brainer" <>
(No brainer)

While these are not going to work
No brainer ""
- will try to find the domain no brainer
No brainer
- too much choice

Then if you leave things incomplete with either only one " or <, >,
or even combinations where you can have something like
"no brainer <><"
has caused the servers to have conniptions. There is just going to
be confusion, and servers take umbrage and reject things. Like most
things the KISS principle works best.

Regards Andrew
PS. If we are going to have unbalanced here, it sounds like a
competitive challenge. Be prepared to have a fight on your hands ;-)
