Pat -- When I was SC for ALGenWeb, I created some MailMerge forms to
subscribe to each & every county mailing list. See the form at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~algenweb/rwsub.html Occasionally, when this form
is used, the MailMerge program picks up the RootsWeb address
() instead of the one entered by the visitor. No one
can explain why it happens or when, but the SmartList program has a filter
to prevent the RootsWeb server from getting subscribed to any lists, which
is why you get the "found on the reject list" error message.

You can tell if this is from my MailMerge form by looking for the
"X-mail-agent" header in the e-mail. See it? So -- since it's there in
the header, you can tell it came from the form.

Now -- the visitor's own e-mail address *is* in the request, it's just that
for some reason, SmartList didn't pick it up from the e-mail generated by
MailMerge. See the headers here for one that got messed up for one of my
lists:

X-Diagnostic: Found on the reject list
X-Diagnostic: 15 32760

See the "From:" header? If you want to be nice, just use your list owner
tool page & subscribe that person to the list.

Elsi
