I don't know why we continue to argue over a matter when we don't have all
the facts and in all probability the facts are none of our business at best.
I think the example I gave of a person offering to do a lookup "at cost" and
then someone coming along and requesting hours of research and expecting the
same agreement is valid. We don't know what was discussed in private and we
don't know what "results" were given. If I requested lookups in specific
resources--books, etc. and the researcher did that but found nothing--the
researcher still spent the time and would be entitled to payment if that was what
the two agreed upon.

Just because RootsWeb lists don't permit commercial or fee for service
posts--doesn't mean that arrangements between list members can't be carried in
private after they initially make contact on a list.
