So far in the testing Mailman is not recognizing these as an attempt to sub
(but rather as an attempt to post to the list from a non-subscriber) and
referring them all to the admins to contact the person and explain why their
attempt to post didn't go through. Unsub attempts sent to the list address
improperly are disappearing into cyberspace. <g>

Suprisingly (to me at least), the majority of the admins appear to prefer to
correct the person rather than have the software identify and process these
misdirected requests--although they would prefer if the software could be
taught to send an auto-response explaining how to sub and unsub but not to
attempt to recognize these and auto-process them.

How it will end up in the long run I have no idea.
