Agreed, if someone's purpose is to harass other subscribers, they don't
belong on the list or, for that matter, on RootsWeb.
But not everyone that fails to follow the rules should be unsubbed.
That doesn't seem fair. When tempers flare, moderation can be a very
useful tool. A subscriber can get angry and post something s/he would
not normally post. Moderating that subscriber will prevent further
outbursts from reaching the list and allow that subscriber time to cool
down.
It's also useful when you're not sure what a subscriber will do. Any
time I send an admin message to an individual, I temporarily put that
subscriber on moderation. Keeps responses from reaching the list.
