ANNIS is an old New England name.....

I checked Vt First Settlers.....no Annis listed.....doesnt mean they
were not
there, they just did not get a land grant.
---
There was a Charles Annis of Newbury, Mass Bay Colony in 1666.
He was born in Ireland 1638.
---
I dont know if this is your Annis family or not....the name is NOT a
common
one.....hold on to this information:
The genealogy is in the THE ESSEX ANTIQUARIAN, Vol 3, page184-187
---
In the genealogy:
---
**Jacob- 5 moved to _ford, Vermont. he was born in Andover,Mass 1763;
married Abigail Fowler of Andover in 1787.......
---
The family appeared to lived mainly in Newbury, Andover, Gloucester, and
Muethen prior to [roughly] 1800.......other Annis names appear in
Haverhill,
Harvard, Amesbury,Princeton, Shirley, and Lexington...all in Mass.
