Subject: The Tarbell Indian Captivity ~ Groton, Mass.
Date: Tue, 2 Aug 2005 01:15:14 EDT
In the summer of 2003 - Neil Drew - NBC Affiliate Television Station in the
Mohawk
Valley, NY, brought to Groton, Mass. the direct descendant of the Tarbell
brothers
who were captured by the Indians and kept in captivity. He was the Chief of
the Tribe
there in the Mohawk valley at the time of his visit to Groton. I was
contacted to supply all the material from all the Groton books on the history of
that captivity. Neil Drew is writing a book about the events occuring in the
French & Indian Wars and the Indian raids on towns like Groton. He contacted me
by email today - his computer crashed and he lost all the transcriptions. I
have it all and just sent him the zipped file - The Tarbell transcriptions
together with a picture taken of Chief Phil Tarbell and Neil Drew - at the Old
Burial Ground at Groton - at the ancient tombstones of his ancestors. The story
was covered by the Groton Newspaper.
The text transcriptions from the books with the picture at the cemetery are
available on request. Janice Farnsworth
