Subject: [MA-CENSUS] John and Mary DEXTER and family ... Where They
Lived .. 1860 to 1890
Good morning,
I had previously asked about .. John and Mary Dexter .. and very much
appreciated the responses and helpful information.
This time I would like to ask if anyone has come across their names in a
Census ... before 1890. I don't know when or where they married, but
it would have probably been between 1860 and 1870. So, I am looking to
find out where they lived during those years and up to 1890.
>From ~1890 to 1899, they were living at 72 Franklin Street in Melrose. Is
there a way for me to find out if they were living there from 1880 on?
Also, since John Dexter seemed to be working in the Melrose area, I am
curious if they lived in one of the cities north of Boston, which bordered
on Melrose .. before they moved to Franklin Street.
If anyone happens to come across this John and Mary Dexter listed in a
Census in, say, Medford, Everett, Revere, or any cities bordering them, I
would very much appreciate .. finding out the names of their children. Or,
at the very least, I'd like to find out how many children they had.
John Dexter and Mary Anna (Clark) Dexter were both born in 1837. When
they adopted a baby girl in 1892, while living in Melrose, they were at
least 54 years old. (My suspicion is that the baby was their
grandchild.)
Have a good day, Betty
(near Lowell, MA)
P.S. I know I have to get down to the Melrose Library and spend a day;
it's high on my list of "things to do." :o)
