Margaret Traquair Blanchard

Margaret T. Blanchard, 90, died peacefully, Friday, March 11, 2011
surrounded by her children and niece, after a short illness.

She lived in Westford since 1957, in the same house. She is survived by her
husband, Lloyd Blanchard, her children; Kevin Blanchard and his wife Lynn
Kline of Ashfield, MA, her daughter, Heather Tower and her husband Steven of
Northfield, MA, her grandchildren, Christopher and Sara Tower, her sister,
Jean Dellert of Gardiner, ME, neices: Annie Raskin of Bennington, VT,
Virginia Vaitones and husband Scott of Tenants Harbor, ME, Margaret Carlson
and husband Mark of Shirley Ma, Lee Quinn and husband Charles of Pembroke,
MA, and Sharon Nix and husband Kenneth of Norwood, MA; nephews: William
Dellert of Augusta ME, Peter Dellert of Holyoke, MA, Glen Traquair of
Nashua, NH, Russell Traquair of Trevett, ME and John Blanchard of Norwood,
MA, 5 grandnieces, 5 grandnephews, 1 great grandniece and 2 great

She was predeceased by her brother, George Traquair and his wife, Janet, and
her brother-in-law, David Dellert. Margaret was born September 2, 1920 in
Melrose, MA, to Walter Traquair of Edinburgh, Scotland and Georgina Guthrie
of Glasgow, Scotland.

She attended Salem State College, earning her degree in Special Education in
1942. She taught elementary through high school, in Malden and Reading, MA,
Stamford, CT from 1942-1951, and finally in Chelmsford and Littleton, MA
from 1962-1982. She was a beloved teacher to many and shared her knowledge
as and educational advocate volunteer after her retirement. She was involved
in many organizations in Westford including the League of Women Voters (a
founding member), the Whitney Herrick Society, and the Rodenbush Community
Center Board. At the First Parish United Church, she sang in the choir, was
a member of Mr. and Mrs., and served on the Prudential Committee. She was
also a member of the Lunenburg Womens Club for 10 years. She was a Paul
Harris Fellow through Rotary International. Many will remember her school
committee luncheons and pre Prom dinners, and the dinners she hosted for
local Dartmouth alums. She loved to travel and she and Lloyd made several
trips to Scotland, Iceland, France (for the 50th D Day Anniversary) as well
as domestic trips, many with Lloyds Army friends. She loved opera, and used
to travel to NYC to the Met several times a year. Recently she enjoyed the
live opera performances at the movie theaters. She also enjoyed the theater,
and for many years she and Lloyd attended performances in Lowell. She felt
she had lived a good life with many wonderful memories. She will be missed
by many.

A memorial service will be held April 23, at 11 am at the First Parish
Church United of Westford. In lieu of flowers, please give to an
organization that is significant to your relationship with Peg and her

Mary Love (Scott) Caless

Mary (Love Scott) Caless, 83, of Beaver Brook Road, Westford, died on March
22, after complications from a fall. She was born in Haverhill, MA on June
18, 1927, daughter of the late Robert and Janet (Love) Scott, and was the
wife of the late Chester A. Caless, who died in 1987. She grew up in
Haverhill, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. She was married to
Chester Caless and made her home in Westford for 57 years. Mary worked as a
telephone operator for 15 years at New England Telephone and Telegraph. Mary
was a member of many organizations including being a Life member of the
Westford Sportsmens Club, Antique Klaxon Club, and Bell Atlantic Alumni
Association. She served the Town of Westford on many boards including the
School Committee from 1970-1982, Westford School Building Committees,
Westford Master Plan Committee, Westford Tax Title Committee, Westford
Finance Committee, Committee to develop the Parish Center for the Arts, and
was well known in Precinct 3 as the Town of Westford Voter Warden. She was
also a member of the Westford PTA, Merrimack Valley Association of School
Committee, and the Police Building Committee. She was a Cub Scout Den Leader
and a Girl Scout Leader. Mary was also awarded the Westford Kiwanis Club
Outstanding Person of the Year in 1993. The Cameron Senior Center was one of
her favorite gathering places. She is survived by a son Robert, and his wife
Sarah Caless of Bolton, Conn., and a daughter Jean, and her husband Norman
Silva of Westford. She adored her five grandchildren, Robert Silva, and his
wife Shannon of Milford, N.H., Elizabeth Silva of Westford, Daniel, Peter
and Alison Caless of Bolton. She was also the sister of the late Jean
Raymond, Marion Kendig Doliber and nephew Gordon Raymond. She is also
survived by her niece, Nancy Montagna of Silver Springs, Md. Visiting Hours
were at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, on Friday, March
25, from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at the Funeral Home on Saturday

Dora Dennechuk, former Westford "Mill Girl"; 97

WESTFORD -- Dora (Wolkowich) Dennechuk, 97, lifelong resident of Westford,
wife of the late Peter Dennechuck, died March 25th, at Westford Genesis

She was born March 14, 1914, in Lawrence, a daughter of the late Steven
Wolkowich and Mary (Belida) Wolkowich.

Prior to her retirement, she was a "Mill Girl" starting at age 14 at Abbot
Worsted in Westford, as a Spinner and continued her work at the Forge Mills
in Lowell. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting and loved spending time with
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Scott of Chelmsford; and her son,
Peter "Woody" Dennechuck, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Westford; four
grandchildren, Kathleen Mireault and her husband, Kevin, Martha Duffett and
her husband, Ken, Sarah Dennechuck LeGuelaff and her husband, Eric,
Katherine Morin and her husband, David, and three great-grandchildren, Tyler
Mireault, Alyson Mireault and Cole Duffet.

She was predeceased by her brother, Andrew Wolkowich.

DENNECHUCK -- Visiting hours on Thursday, March 31st from 10:00 to 11:00

Robert Paul Dromgoole, of Westford; formerly of Medford

WESTFORD -- Robert Paul Dromgoole, 67, of Westford, formerly of Medford, MA,
loving husband of Marjorie (Latta) Dromgoole, died peacefully after a long
illness, on March 31, 2011. He was born September 18, 1943, the son of the
late Eleanor J. (Hartery) Dromgoole. He graduated from Northeastern
University and received an MBA from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He
retired in 2011 after a fulfilling 30 year career at Pennwell Publishing.
Mr. Dromgoole is survived by two sons; Ryan Paul Dromgoole and his wife
Laura of Texas, and Patrick Sean Dromgoole of Westford. He is also survived
by several cousins.

LEOMINSTER -- James O. Engberg, 50, formerly of Westford and Athol, died
Sunday, March 6, at his home.

He was born on February 12, 1961 in Portland, Maine, the son of Sven and
Doris Mae (Higgins) Engberg.

Mr. Engberg was a Union Carpenter for several years working for Carpenter's
Local 107 in Worcester and Carpenter's Local 33 in Boston.

He was a US Army Veteran serving in Germany, was a Captain of his dart team
at H.E. Fletcher Club in Westford, a former President of The Lithuanian Club
in Athol, a member of the American Legion Post in Westford, and a Den Leader
of pack 18 in Athol.

He leaves his wife, Margaret "Margie" Engberg of Athol; his son, James
Engberg II of Athol and Leominster; a daughter, Renee Bodinizzo and her
husband, Brendon of Worcester, and his former wife, Michele D'Angelo of

Muriel Evelyn (Johnson) Fletcher, of Chelmsford; formerly of Westford

CHELMSFORD -- Muriel Evelyn (Johnson) Fletcher passed away peacefully
surrounded by her family on March 7, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was
the daughter of the late Clifford and Ruth Johnson and is survived by her
husband of 63 years, A. Dana Fletcher - their marriage and life together was
a true love story. She was a lifelong resident of Westford and moved to
Chelmsford after retirement.

Mrs. Fletcher graduated from Westford Academy and the Mary Sheppard School
of Nursing in Boston and worked at various local healthcare facilities
including the Westford Nursing Home.

Muriel loved the ocean and spent many happy times at Cranes Beach, Rye
Beach, and the Maine Coast. Muriel and Dana also loved the Lakes Region and
vacationed annually on Lake Waukewan with their family.

Besides her husband Dana, she is survived by 5 children: Priscilla and Peter
Stephens, Marsha and Don Batchelder, Ken and Joanne Fletcher, Steven and
Mary Ann Fletcher, and Karen and Jeff Demuth. She is also survived by 10
grandchildren: Robert, Scott, and Heather Stephens; Sarah Batchelder; Travis
and Brandon Fletcher; Jennifer Fletcher; Stefanie Lurvey, and Jill and Nick
Demuth. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. She was also the
sister of Phyllis McKniff and her husband Francis of Lancaster, PA, and was
the sister of the late Clifford Johnson, Jr., Mildred Johnson and Donald
Johnson. She leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear longtime
friends. Muriel also leaves 2 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Smith and Frances

Muriel will always be remembered as a warm, outgoing, dedicated wife,
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and we will miss her and remember
her eternally.

OSSIPEE, NH -- Randy M. Girard, age 47 of Ossipee, NH, died February 27, at
home with his loving family.

He was born May 21, 1963 in Newton, Massachusetts. The son of August O.
"Gus" and Sarah K. "Sally" (Malloy) Girard. Raised in Westford, MA and
living there most of his life. He and Karen have lived in Ossipee for the
past 10 years.

Randy had worked as a Cable splicer. Working as a subcontractor for many

He enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. Hobbies include
riding his Harley Davidson and an avid outdoorsman who hunted with a bow or
gun. He was a certified Sky Diver and certified Scuba Diver. A very artistic
man who was self taught hands on kind of guy. He enjoyed playing the guitar
and gardening.

Survivors include his partner of 17 years: Karen J. Foster of Ossipee, NH,
his parents Gus and Sally Girard, brothers: Keith E. Girard, Shawn P. and

CHELMSFORD -- Ms. Kathleen D. (Duffy) Jones of Chelmsford formerly of
Westford, MA died Sunday morning, February 27, 2011 at Lowell General

Born in Chelmsford, MA on February 29, 1924, the daughter of the late John
H. and Theresa (Elliot) Duffy, she was a graduate of Keith Hall School with
the class of 1942, and studied for 2 years at the Lowell Secretarial School.

She was employed in her earlier years at the Westford Public Library, the
University of Lowell as an Assistant to Dean Larry Martin, and most recently
she supported the Assistant Clerk of Courts in Ayer, MA until her retirement
in 1991.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Chelmsford and St. Catherine's
Church in Westford.

Ms. Jones was a member of Westford Garden Club, Nashua Country Club,
Westford Women's League of Voters, but was most happy spending quality time
with family and friends.

Kathleen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Marcella
Jones of Easton, MA, and her two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and
Herb Sharpe of Portland, OR, and Paula and Eric Johnson of Daytona, FL, a
brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Eileen Duffy of Chelmsford, two
sisters and their husbands, Rita and Bill Clayton of Portland, OR, and Nancy

She was born on March 17,1926 in Manchester England. Betty was WWII veteran
after joining the British Army at the age of 16.

NASHUA, N.H. -- Claire "Joyce" Marchand, 69, formerly of Westford, died at
St. Joseph's Hospital on March 20th, 2011.

Born on March 19th, 1942 she was the daughter of James and Claire (
Bousquet) Lamb. Joyce grew up in the Nabnassett area of Westford and
attended Westford schools. She is a graduate of Westford Academy. She worked
for Murray Printing (Courrier Corp) of Westford in the book bindary
department for over 30 years until retirement. She continued to work part
time as a Recess/ Lunchroom monitor for the Nashua School system at Ledge
Street Elementary school. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and
friends and especially all of her grandchildren. (Sabrina, Melissa,
Victoria, Paul, Sarah and Colleen)

Her husband, Richard, preceded her and she is survived by her children Paul
and his wife Robin. Sharon and her husband, Jay Tanny. Randy and His

Walter Nyder, lifelong resident of Westford, Army Vet; 83

WESTFORD -- Walter Nyder, 83, a lifelong resident of Westford, died March
16, 2011, in his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Pearl V.
(Lefebre) Nyder.

He was born March 31, 1927 in Westford, a son of the late Eufstafy Nyder and
Eudokia Krewicz. Mr. Nyder attended Westford schools and graduate from
Westford Academy.

He was enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 1945 as Sergeant, and was honorably
discharged in Jan. 1947.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Nyder worked for Gro-Lex Company in Groton, MA.

He enjoyed wood-working, spending time with his family, and working
outdoors. Mr. Nyder was a life member of the American Legion Post #159.

He is survived by his son, David Ross and his wife, Dorothy of Punta Gorda,
FL; his daughter, Darlene and her husband, John Palmer of New Ispwich, NH;
his grandchildren, Molley Palmer of Boston, MA, Ben Palmer of Peterborough,
NH, Emily Palmer of Manchester, NH, David Ross, Jr. and his wife, Jill of
Hudson, NH, Scott Ross and his wife, Kerry of Marietta, GA, and Derek Ross
and his wife, Melissa of Greenfield, NH; as well as his great-grandchildren,

Walter was the father of the late Dale Nyder, and brother of the late Peter

John G. Shine, Jr., of Westford, Decorated War Veteran

WESTFORD -- John G. Shine, Jr., of Westford, died March 30, 2011.

He was born in Somerville, MA, November 22, 1922, a son of the late John and
Blanche (Sowden) Shine. He was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class
of 1940.

Mr. Shine was married for 38 years to Margaret T. (Flanagan) Shine who
passed away in June, 1986, and was the companion of Eleanor (Stone) Manning
for 18 years, who passed away in November 2006.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 where he served as a radio
operator on a B-24 Liberator Bomber in the South Pacific. He flew 340 combat
hours, including the longest flight of a B-24 from Northern Australia to
Balikpapan, Borneo, taking 16 hours and 30 minutes to complete. His group
was granted a Presidential Citation and he was one of four awarded an Air
Medal. Mr. Shine was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He is survived by a niece, Dianne Finn Chisholm of CT; three nephews, Albert
Finn, III of North Carolina, John Finn of NH, and Stephen Finn of Dracut,
MA. He is also survived by Linda Manning, a very dear friend of Arlington,
MA, and John and Marylin Crowley of Beverly, MA.

He was the brother of the late Mary Finn.

WESTFORD, MA -- Concepcion (Zavala) Szabo, 85, of Westford, MA, died

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Imre Szabo.

She was born in Mexico City, a daughter of the late Vincente Zavala and
Maria (Sanchez) Zavala.

Mrs. Szabo enjoyed being home spending time with her loving family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Maria B. Norton and
her husband, Paul of Billerica, MA, her son, Imre Szabo Jr. of Rio Rico, AZ;
her daughter, Susan Wrisley and her husband, Peter of Hollis, NH. She is
also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews in Mexico.

Robert M. Talbot, lifelong resident of Westford

WESTFORD -- Robert Michael Talbot, 68, of Westford, died Tuesday, March 8,
2011, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH, after a
long illness.

He was married to Lorraine (Robey) Talbot with whom he would have celebrated
their 45th wedding anniversary on August 6th.

Born in Lowell, MA on January 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert H.
and Helen (Rawlynowicz) Talbot. He was educated in the Westford Public
Schools and graduated from Westford Academy with the Class of 1960.

Robert worked as a custodian in the Westford School system until retiring in
2005 from the Robinson Elementary School.

He was an avid gamer with the Xbox and the PS3. He enjoyed gardening,
Foxwoods and Atlantic City.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lea DeMelo and her
husband, Jose of Litchfield, NH, Deborah Talbot and her companion, Jose
Rodriguez of Manchester, NH, Linda Freitas and her husband, Joe of Westford,
MA; two grandsons, Jerry Gonzalez and Michael Freitas both of Westford;
Brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Donald and Jean Robey of Pelham, NH,
Richard and Martha Robey of Lowell, MA, Francis Robey of Derry, NH, Roger
and Helen Robey of Tyngsborough, MA, Charles and Lucille Archambault of
Lowell, MA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

John W. Whitney Sr, was owner and operator of Whitney Poultry Farm in
Westford; 94

HOLLIS, NH -- John W. Whitney Sr., 94, formerly of Westford and Littleton,
died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at The Elms Nursing & Rehabilitation Center,
Milford, NH.

His wife of 63 years, Ruth A. (Atwood) Whitney, died in January 2003.

Mr. Whitney was born in Westford, August 31, 1916, a son of Hamilton E. and
Lena M. (McCormick) Whitney, and resided 30 years on Harwood Avenue in
Littleton before moving to Hollis in the mid 1980's.

He is survived by his son, John W. Whitney Jr. of Hollis, NH; his daughter,
Patricia A. Lyon of Hudson, NH; seven grandchildren; and three

He was the brother of the late Hamilton E. Whitney Jr. of Westford, and
Susan Lewis of Hollis, NH.

For 15 years, Mr. Whitney worked as the foreman of the Massachusetts
Reclaimation and Mosquito Control Board in Waltham, retiring in 1978. Prior
to that, he worked at the Hartnett Tannery in Ayer and from 1933- 1958 as a
weaver at the Conant & Houghton Company in Littleton.

A gentleman farmer, Mr. Whitney owned and operated the Whitney Poultry Farm
in Westford and for years maintained egg routes throughout the Lowell area.

He was a member of the Caleb Butler Lodge of Masons AF & AM in Ayer, Aleppo
Shriners, Wilmington, and the Worcester Country Shriners. He was a member of
the Retired Municipal and County Employees Association, and enjoyed hunting
& fishing.

WHITNEY -- A graveside service will be held 11 am Saturday, March 12, 2011
at Fairview Cemetery, Main and Tadmuck Street, Westford. A visitation period
will be 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM Saturday at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home,

Stanley G Whitney, 75 Year Resident of Westford

WESTFORD -- Mr. Stanley G. Whitney, of Westford, MA, died unexpectedly
Friday, March 4th at his home.

He was married to the love of his life for 46 wonderful years, the late Mrs.
Beverly Ann (Gregoire) Whitney, who died July 29, 2005.

He was born in Lowell, MA on November 25, 1935, the son of the late Harold
G. and Ellen (Lundstrom) Whitney. He was educated in the Westford Public
Schools and served with the U.S. Army.

Mr. Whitney was active in the family business which is in its fourth
generation of operation. He was the third generation owner and operator of
Whitney's Service in Westford, MA for the last 50 years.

He was a 75-year resident of Westford, MA. He had a passion for gardening
and was an avid auto race fan for more than 50 years. He was devoted to his
family. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren. He
especially enjoyed teaching them how to water ski at the camp in S.
Chelmsford and enjoyed his sunset cruises.

Mr. Whitney is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Linda M.
(Wacome) Whitney of Westford, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Robin A. and
Marc M. McCarthy of York, ME, a sister-in-law, Beverly (Johnson) Whitney of
Holiday, FL, six granddaughters, Amanda, Jessica, Heather, Ashley, Nicole,
and Heidi, numerous nieces, nephews and several close family friends.

He was the brother of the late Edwin "Mickey" Whitney of California who died
in 1979.

John J. Zelukiewicz, Westford, Murray Printing Co. retiree, Vet; 90

WESTFORD -- John J. Zelukiewicz, 90, of Westford, beloved husband of Rena
(Lamy) Zelukiewicz, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on
Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Lowell.

He was born in Maynard, MA, January 18, 1921, a son of the late Joseph P.
Zelukiewicz and Anne (Maskewicz) Zelukiewicz. Mr. Zelukiewicz spent his
early years in Maynard, graduating from Maynard High School in 1939.

He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharge
after his service.

Prior to his retirement, John was a shipper for the former Murray Printing
Company in the Forge Village section of Westford.

He was an avid Boston Sports fan and most enjoyed spending time with his

great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Brendan, Abbi, Tehla and Ayden.

Also by a sister, Blanche Lombard of Concord, MA. He was the beloved uncle
to Joan Willet, the Gower family, and several other nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Mary Matson, and Walter Zelukiewicz.
