Did John and Sarah have both a Mary and a Mercy?

In my database I have the following, although this is not my line and I have
not researched it:

Mercy married Joseph Sloud (in Torrey's it says Slade) in Swansea 12 May
1681. Swansea Vital Records 95-1.

In Swansea records it does say Sloud, but Torrey's reads:

Sloud, Joseph & Mercy Butterworth (1663-1711+), dau. John, m/2 Samuel Thayer
(no), m/3? ? Blood (prob. error for Slade); 12 Dec 1681; Swansea.

Mary married (2) Samuel Thayer 1690 in Mendon. (Torrey's p. 734)

Don't know if this helps at all.
