Richard-3 Blood, was the only known child of Joseph-2 Blood. He must have
been born at least as early as 1687, for on 3 Mar. 1707/8 he "of Mendon" bought
of James Maccanab, Samuel Whiting, Timothy Whiting, Jonathan Whiting, and Ezra
Morse "18 cow common rights in undivided land between Mendon, Wrentham, and
Providence" plus "3 score and 12 acres already laid out in Rawson's Farm"
(Suffolk Co. L. R. 27-123).
Witnesses to the deed were Nicholas Cook, Elizabeth Hawes, and John Gay. He
also bought 32 more acres in 1714 and 10 more in 1716/17, the last deed being
recorded in Worcester County in 1755. His land was in that part of Dedham which
became part of the new town of Bellingham in 1719.
