I find no indication that Solomon Warren Hathaway was involved in the Civil
War. He was from Rochester, and was born there, Mar. 29, 1834, to Jonathan
and Mercy P. Hathaway. In 1855 he lived in Rochester, age 21, with apparent
wife, Abby B., age 22. In 1865 he was living in Wareham, age 32, born
Rochester, Nailor, with Abbie B., born Carver, and Rosalie A., age 9, born
Rochester, Leonora E., age 6, born Wareham, and Helen F., age 1, born
Wareham. In 1880, he was in Wareham, age 46, with Abby B., age 47; Rose A.,
age 24; Leonora E., age 21; Nellie F., age 16; Abby W., age 13; and Ira F.,
age 5.
The family is buried in Centre Cemetery in Wareham:
Bourne, Nathan E., 1864 - 1948
Bourne, Helen F., 1863 - 1941, w Nathan E. [daughter of Solomon W. Hathaway]
Bourne, Sherod, d Mar 13 1902, age 5 wks, son Nathan E. and Helen F.
Hathaway, Solomon W., d Sep 27 1909, age 75y 6m
Hathaway, Abbie B., d Apr 9 1889, age 56 1m, w Solomon W.
Hathaway, Rose, d May 25 1906, age 50y 6m 25d, dau Solomon W. and Abbie B.
Solomon's obituary is in the Wareham "Courier" and can be obtained through
the Wareham Free Library as indicated on the Wareham GenWeb page.
The son Ira was married in Wareham:
Hathaway, Ira F., age 32, of So. Wareham to Hudson, Lena C., age 17, of
Wareham, 24-Nov 1905
Neither of thier obituaries appear in the "Courier", so they apparently
moved from the Wareham area.
Richard
