Hello:

Does anyone know if the Marshall Kelley of Dennis who died in the October
gale of 1841 was the one born Harwich 23 March 1820, son of Marshall Kelley
(who was son of Patrick Kelley and Dorcas Chase)?

In case anyone on the list descends from one of the Nickerson brothers who
died at sea in 1847, there is a large monument at South Dennis
Congregational Church Cemetery: "This monument is erected to the memory of
Jonathan Nickerson Jr., Master, and John S. Nickerson, First Officer of
Schooner Sarah Adams bound from Baltimore to Loche Foyle and shipwrecked on
the coast of Ireland and all on board lost in April 1847. Also to the memory
of Scotto B. Nickerson, Master, and Job Chase 2d, First Officer of Schooner
Abner Hall bound from Providence to Philadelphia and shipwrecked and all on
board lost about 30 miles South of Montaug Point on the 10th of Dec. 1847.
Jonathan, Scotto B. and John S. were sons and Job Chase 2d grandson of
Jonathan Nickerson & Hitty his wife. Jonathan Nickerson Jr. was b. May 20,
1807 and lost in Apr. 1847 in his 40th year. Scotto B. Nickerson was b. July
16 1809 lost in Dec. 1847 in his 39th year. John S. Nickerson was b. June 6,
1819 lost in Apr. 1847 in his 28th year. Minerva Ann, his wife (whose grave
is on the right of this monument) was b. Aug. 26 1829, d. Aug. 10 1846 in
her 23d year. Their infant child died Sept. 10, 1846. Job Chase 2d was b.
Feb 24, 1824 lost in Dec. 1847 in his 24th year. He was the son of Job Chase
3d who was lost at sea on board Schooner Hope & Mary Ann in July 1826." This
is from Burt Derick's book on Dennis cemetery inscriptions.

I haven't done any research on Jonathan Nickerson and Mehitable Berry. Does
anyone know their parentage?
