Moira,
Don't know if this will help any, but I've a Moran in one of my lateral
lines:
Jane Moran (b. abt 1848 or 1852 in Ireland, depending on source) married
Thomas S. Hederson on 25 Apr 1871 at St. Rose; Fr. James Conlin
officiated. They first set up house on Everett Ave near the Everett
line.
Jane's parents were James and Ann. I've no info on James outside of
that he's died by 1875, as Ann is listed in the 1875 directory as living
with Jane and Tom at 255 Spruce. 1880 census says she was born about
1802. She died 26 Apr 1882.
Tom and Jane had 5 children:
Arthur Joseph b. abt 1872
James b. 2 Feb 1877 d. 8 Nov 1878 (inflammation of brain)
George b. abt 1878
Ann b. 25 Nov 1883 d. 1 Sep 1884 (cholera)
Thomas b. 25 Nov 1883
>From 1883-1893, the family lived at 222 Washington; they may have moved
to 68 Malvern St. in Melrose MA in 1894, as Tom died there on 2 Mar
1894, but by 1895 they are back in Chelsea, residing at 65
Bloomingdale. In 1900, they return to the house at 255 Spruce.
Most of their info on the 1900 census is washed out, so I don't know
when Jane arrived in the US.
After the 1902-1903 directory, Jane and her surviving sons just drop out
of sight. Hope to track them down again once the library reopens. If
Jane looks like one of your Morans, let me know.
