Subject: [MACHELSEA] RE Previous posting : Massachusetts Vital Records
Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 21:50:26 EDT
Hi again :
Someone just contacted me in regards to : My earlier posting in regards to
Massachusetts Vital Records
This was passed onto me .
Many of you may already know about this but for those who do not:
A severe threat to access of Massachusetts vital records. The recently
introduced Massachusetts House of Representatives bill H5158 (would close
marriage and death records since 1950, as well as birth records after 1910,
to public access — including their indices! This bill has not had a public
hearing and there is a significant danger of this bill passing without the
opportunity for a public hearing. >>>>>>>>>>>
REPLY From Bill Gillis of MAESSEX LIST :
Someone contacted a member of the General
Court who said that the bill died in committee.
Much to my relief!! and to yours too I am sure .! Sorry to cause a panic ,
this was new news to me .
It is certainly hard enough tracking down our more elder ancestors without
the blocking of finding our more recent ones to get us there!
Best Wishes to All,
Andrea
