Hello, I made a mistake when I said that Samuel Cochran's death took place in 1854. It actually was in 1855; my apoligies for that error.
There were three other Corcrane/Corkrans that died in 1855 besides Samuel, according to a transcription by Meg Greenwood that is listed in the Wigtown Pages website. One is listed simply as Cochrane, Janet 14y and the other two appear to be my Jane/Jean's siblings:
Corkran, Agnes 81y - Stoneykirk - #22 - Agnes CORKRAN, 81 years. Born in Cairnweel, Stoneykirk and lived for 12 years in Ringuinea. Parents: William CORKRAN, Farmer deceased & Janet McCOLM deceased. Married: Alexander McCULLOCH, Sailor deceased. Children: William, Died at age 40 in 1843. Elizabeth, 48. Janet, 39. Died on May 2 at Ringuinea, of Frailty and Old Age, 8-9 years. No medical attendant. Buried in Kirkmadrine Churchyard, Stoneykirk, certified by James McCreadie, Church Officer. Signed: Daniel MILWAIN, Son-in-law. Registered on May 8 at Stoneykirk, Thomas Kennedy, Registrar.
Corkran, James 81y - Stoneykirk - #4 - James CORKRAN, Farmer, 81. Born in Carnweel, lived in Stoneykirk all his life. Parents: William CORKRAN, Farmer deceased & Janet McCOLM deceased. Married: Euphemia DONALDSON. Children: Elizabeth, Died at age 26 in 1831. John, 47. Jane, 44. William, 42. James, 40. Peter, 38. Euphemia, 36. Samuel, 32. Janet, 30. Alexander, 27. Mary, Died at age 20 in 1839. Died on Jan 18, 4:30pm at Altain, Stoneykirk, of Old Age and Frailty, 3 weeks. Buried in Stoneykirk Churchyard, certified by James McCreadie, Church Officer. Signed: Alexander CORKRAN, son. Registered on Jan 24 at Stoneykirk, Thomas Kennedy, Registrar.

I do not believe that I will be searching out copies of the actual documents, as I am primarily interested in finding a record of Jane/Jean's death....but if I do, I will certainly let people know and send it to whoever requests it.
Thank you for adding me to the list serv. I lam looking forward to learning whatever I can about these families.
Regards
Diann

Hello Jeffrey, thank you for your response.
I hope that I have some information that will be useful for you. I am just in the very beginning of researching my I do not have much time this morning, so just wanted to connect with you and let you know that I got your email.
The PDF that I have inserted is purely speculative. I have a ton of work to do before I can state with 100 percent certainty that it is accurate. Regardless, it is a good place from which to start and I was hoping that you or some of your contacts could help me fill in the blanks.
Following is a transcription of a Death registry for Samuel Cochran that might be of interest to you. I believe that it is very possible that Samuel was my Jane/Jean Cochran's brother I do not have the original yet--I got it via the Wigtownshire list serv, and saved it thinking it might be useful information for the future. Unfortunately, I didn't note which email it came in so now I need to do some backtracking. Regardless, a Samuel Corcran is listed in the LDS records as being christened on 20 Dec 1769. I believe that this is a record of that Samuel Corcran's death. in 1854.
Cochran, Samuel 85y - Stoneykirk - #20 - Samuel COCHRAN, Farmer, 85. Born in Carnweel, Stoneykirk, lived there all his life. Parents: William Corkran, Farmer deceased & Janet McCOLM, deceased. Married: Janet McTAGGART deceased. Children: Peter, Died at age 22 in 1824. William, Died at age 2 in 1833. David, 47. Margaret, 44. Jane, 42. James, Died at age 33 in 1851. Samuel, 32. Robert, 30. John, Died at age 11 months in 1808. Died on Mar 28, 1:20pm at Sandmill, Stoneykirk, of Icterus [?], 4-5 days. Certified by John C. Sloan, Surgeon, Sandhead - last saw the deceased on Mar 28. Buried in Stoneykirk Churchyard, certified by James McCreadie, Church Officer. Signed: Samuel COCHRAN, son. Registered on April 3 at Stoneykirk, Thomas Kennedy, Registrar.

I have not yet had the opportunity to check in Stoneykirk, which is another parish of interest for these particular families.
Thank you again for contacting me. I'd appreciate hearing back from you and hope that some of my research, tentative though it is, might help you put together some of the puzzle. Wigtownshire, specifically Kirkmaiden and Stoneykirk, would appear to be at least one of the Scottish homes of the Cochran/McColm (and variants) families.
I am not familiar with the McComb book or McComb Record. Would you be able to point me in the direction of a URL or a book where I can look at that information?
Regards
Diann
