Patrons !
I am McComb researcher, and I have a ton a of information, photos on the
surnames Thomas-Thoms-Thom. I belong to the Clan MacThomas Society of
Scotland. My last name is much different then yours, you would think,
however, it is the very same name and I will explain.
My last name McComb that was originally MacCombie. MacCombie is the phonetic
form of MacThomas, or originally MacThomaidh. In time, these variations have
gotten broken down into smaller names. These are called our sept names and
is how our separate names were created and went their own ways.
I collect old books that I obtain off of micro-films, I then scan them into
pdf files, then upload them onto my website. I have GOOD books, The Families
of McCombie and Thoms, MacIntosh Families of Glenshee and Glenisla, I have
things on KinaraMS.
I have a whole collection on the MacKintoshes originally Mac`an`Tosach. We
descend from William MacKintosh 7th of MacKintosh-8th of Clan Chattan
thru his son Adam MacWillam or Adhamh MacUilleam. We are known as ``Sloichd
Adhamh Mhor Mhic Uilleam``. It means we are the Tribe of Big Adam and we are
the 5th of the 9 tribes of MacKintosh, under MacThomas or Mac`Thomaidh Mhic
Mac`an`Tosach.(son of Thomas and son of Thane or Chief)
Williams grandson, Adams son, is Thomas or Thomaidh-> His kinship took
the MacCombie(MacThomas) variation, and that is the birth of our two last
names. They could use either one, and these books reflect that, over and
over and over again, they even used MacKintosh even till this day.
If you are connected to Scotland, or if you feel that you `could` be a part
of these clans, then you are more then invited to my private website, just
let me know, you need an invitation. The Clan Aye !!!
