Each person's physical challenge may be different. In my experience the EKU
campus can prsent problems. My daughter attempted to attend classes there
but in some cases, the class she was enrolled in was difficult and not
wheelchair friendly. Even her advisor's door was so narrow, she had to
remain in the hall while they talked. not all doors to buildings are easy.
Some depended upon others to open the heavy doors. Now, the Library is ok
and accessable. The Townsend Room and Archives is located in the basement,
but there are elevators. The greatest restriction will be parking. Best to
contact campus security to get a permit to park; then finding a convenient
space will be next. If you depend upon a chair lift, that presents another
problem, space. I don't mean to put a damper on the effort, but am telling
it as I have experiened it with my daughter. Afterall, it is a university
campus, not a public library, but still is far ahead of the public libraries
in the county which are relatively new and lacking in the historical content
that is so readily available at EKU.
