I'm trying to figure out death dates for James Wallis, and not sure about these names from Mass. Vital Records before 1850, Gloucester Deaths. pg. 315: Walllis, James (and also same for Joseph) "when three were taken by the Indians in fox harbour, viz. James Wallis, Senr, James Wallis, Junr. and John Lane June 22 1724.
The Wallis were from Falmouth/Casco ME but seem to have come to Gloucester in the 1670's. Does anyone know about Maine vital records for that period? Wasn't it part of the Mass. Commonwealth? (I'm studying history as fast as I can!) It seems that most of the Maine settlers were driven out by Indian raids during that period and I imagine many came to Essex. Co. Does anyone have any recommended reading or references that I might check?
Thanks for reading!

P.S. I think this list is a treasure! Wonderful, helpful people!
