Subject: [MAESSEX] Salem: Hugh Jones/Elizabeth Proctor's trial/real cause of death?
Date: Thu, 04 Oct 2001 17:44:51 -0600
Hi,
I am a descendent of Hugh Jones of Salem, who died in
1687/1691. I have read in a book about the witch
trials that Elizabeth Proctor was accused of murdering
Hugh because he drank a pint of ale he hadn't paid for.
I'm assuming she didn't kill him.
Is there any way to find out how he really died? Are
there sources which list causes of death for people
in the 1600's?
Thanks,
Laura Callier
