I have a photo of a relative ca 1890 of a Lynn Police Officer. The number he has on his hat and badge is 70. You can clearly see the word Lynn on the badge. I do not have a name for this gentleman. I am assuming it is ca 1890's since the hat he is wearing reminds me of the ones worn by the Keystone Cops.

The photographer that did the photo is George W Ames of Lynn.

The only connection to Lynn I can find are the Breen branch that are burried in St.Joseph's cemetary. Patrick Breen and Bridget (Foley) Breen. Patrick was a teamster for the city of Boston (for 20 years) before he died of injuries received from the Great Molasses Flood on 1-15-1919 he died 1-19-19. So the photo is not of him.

I contacted the Lynn Police department but they don't keep records of badges and their records only back to the 1920's.

If anyone has a Directory for 1891 + could you check to see if a Breen is listed as a police officer.. Or does anyone know what time period George W. Ames was a photograper??

Any ideas on finding my policeman's identity would be extremely helpful.

I am attaching a jpg
