I found a statement but I don't know what it means:"living on his land under
bond"

"James Harmon, who had been living on his land under bond, surrended it to
John Henderson."

One or both of these men may have been former Scottish prisoners from the
Battle of Dunbar, if that helps anyone understand this meaning.
