Sharon,
With out checking on specific marriages......I have found that 'most' of
those with such wording were intentions of marriage. And without further
evidence the couple were actually married, I suspect the marriage did not
take place.
I do remember seeing one such record, which was an intent, followed in a
year or two by a marriage record. It seemed to me that either 1) the
father considered his daughter too young or 2) the father did not think
much of the groom-to-be and the young man was able to change the father's
mind. [I will admit I did not check on births for the couple in question <g>]
