Peabody, Salem, Lynn, Beverly were all in the leather business they
either worked on leather or made the machinery (United Shoe for
machinery in Beverly--biggest). Flyntan in Salem, A C Lawrence in
Peabody, Hingston Leather in Peabody, etc--many and varied. Many people
came to the area for the leather/shoe industry. Also they worked at the
Pequot Mills making sheets. Hope this helps.
