WorldCat [FirstSearch] is a subscription search engine which locates books
in libaries around the world. I am lucky that the community college where I
teach subscribes to this database. If your library or a nearby college
subscribes, you can use this tool to locate books, and then you can put in
an interlibrary loan request. Some books, of course, do not circulate; but
if you know where they are, you can sometimes request a photocopy of the
index or table of contents. If you then identify specific pages that would
aid your research, you might be able to obtain photocopies of those pages.
