I'm not sure which "records" you are interested in.
I assume John's answer was in regard to "vital records", ie.
birth, marriage, death.
However, there are other records from early Ipswich. See:

I was trying to determine when George Bunker arrived and wanted to
find details of his land transactaions. I knew he owned land because
after his widow married Richard Swaine, they sold the land.
But I could not find that transaction either here:
http://www.salemdeeds.com/historic.asp
or in the new book Essex County Deeds, 1639-1678; Abstracts of
Volumes 1-4, Copy Books by the Essex Soc. of Genealogists.
Then in an article on the Perkins family in EIHC I saw the sale discussed
and they cited "Ipswich Deeds". So, I got the above film and there it was.
I've forgotten how many of the early Ipswich land conveyances are in
these Ipswich records instead of being in the Essex Co. records.
As the film info shows, there are also some wills in these books.
Even though the FHL says it is an "original manuscript" the one I saw
(873018) appeared to me to be a 19th Century copy.
Other early records, beginning in 1634, (which I have not seen) are here:
Town Records

Proprietors' Records:

Regards,
Howard
