I would have thought these records belong to the church. They are not
public records, but rather records of church rituals and/or sacraments. And
for the record, I'm not Catholic, but Episcopalian. Gosh, are we going to
have a flame war about this?

That's truly sad. These records belong to the people, not the Catholic
Church. Of course, and unfortunately, this is a "control" issue (in more
ways than one) and in reality has very little to do with posthumous
rebaptisms.

For the record, I've been a Catholic all my life.
