Where did you buy the book, and how were you able to check your names in it?

Last month I bought a copy of Martin Hollick's book, "New Englanders in
the 1600s: a guide to genealogical research published between 1980 and
2005". If you have New England ancestors in this time frame, I recommend
the book highly. I checked to see how many of my names were in it before
I bought it - at least 30.

What Hollick has done is review the published research from 1980 to 2005
and create a master index of names that appear in compiled genealogies,
the NEHGR, the Mayflower Descendant Series, Walter Goodwin Davis
volumes, the Maine Genealogist, etc. Over 100 sources. While all of
these sources are indexed, how many of us would think to check the Maine
Genealogist for information on Nathaniel Woodward the immigrant? He did
not live in Maine. (you should - they have found his English origins,
including his marriage to Margaret Lawrence in 1608, in Northants.) I
just spent 2 days in the Allen Co. Library in Ft. Wayne, IN looking up
these references and learning a few things. (Note to Bob Gillis - I now
have presumed parents of Hannah Gee who m. Samuel Hodgkins).

Best $19.95 I have spent in a while.
