FIRST GENERATION
1. Benjamin TEMPLE was born about 1707 in Concord, Middlesex,
Massachusetts.1 He died on September 9, 1767 in Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts. Sesquicentennial Anniversary of The Town of Heath, Mass.,
1785 - 1935, Edited by Howard Chandler Robbins, Published by The Heath
Historical Society, 1935. p. 76.
Bought a great deal of land here, about 1765. Two of his youngest children
were born here. Zebuda, his youngest daughter married Thomas Bond.

Benjamin TEMPLE and Hannah had the following children:

2 i. Richard TEMPLE was born on July 6, 1736 in Shrewsbury, Worcester,
Massachusetts.2

Elizabeth Temple who was a daughter of the First Benjamin who
came to Heath, was given in 1750 or 51 a counterpane by Major Willard of
Concord who offered it as a prize for raising the most chickens of any girl
in town. The counterpane was given to Elizabeth McCrellis, a niece of
Elizabeth Temple, and from her passed on to her granddaughter, Lucy E.
Dickinson. This same counterpane is in town in the possession of Mrs.
Dickinson's son Ray.
5 iv. Timothy TEMPLE was born on March 31, 1742 in Shrewsbury,
Worcester, Massachusetts.3 He died in September 1804.4 of Grafton, Mass.
6 v. Abigail TEMPLE was born on January 29, 1745 in Shrewsbury,
Worcester, Massachusetts.5
+7 vi. Solomon TEMPLE (born on April 25, 1747).
8 vii. Amos TEMPLE was born on May 12, 1748 in Shrewsbury,
Worcester, Massachusetts.6
9 viii. Tilly TEMPLE was born about 1750 in Shrewsbury, Worcester,
Massachusetts. He was baptized on August 12, 1750 in Shrewsbury, Worcester,
Massachusetts.7
+10 ix. Seth TEMPLE (born on February 21, 1753).
+11 x. Zebuda TEMPLE (born about 1755).

SECOND GENERATION
3. Jemima TEMPLE was born on May 28, 1738 in Shrewsbury, Worcester,
Massachusetts.8 She was buried in February 1812 in Chandler Hill Cemetery,
Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.9,10 p. 17 - Inscpritons & Epitaphs -

In memory of Jemina Gray who died 11 Feb 1812 in the 74 year of her age.
She died on February 11, 1812 in Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.11

She was married to James MAHONEY.12

She was married to William MC CRELLIS on October 8, 1770.13 William MC
CRELLIS was born about 1708.14 He died on November 3, 1781 in Colrain,
Franklin, Massachusetts.15 A History of Colrain, Massachusetts, with
Genealogies of Early Families, by Lois McClellan Patrie. p. 99
William lived on Noddles Island in Boston Harbor and was "of Boston" when
he bought 2 lots from Hugh Morrison March 4, 1749. It has been thought he
might have been a brother of John, or perhaps a nephew, but there is no
evidence to support this opinion.
He bought and sold considerable land in Colrain. Jemima TEMPLE and
William MC CRELLIS had the following children:

12 i. Martha MC CRELLIS was born in 1772 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.16 She died in 1852.17 Died unmarried.
+13 ii. Elizabeth MC CRELLIS (born on August 2, 1774).
+14 iii. William MC CRELLIS (born about 1779).

She was married to Matthew GRAY on February 2, 1788 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.18 Matthew GRAY was born on April 24, 1727 in Worcester,
Worcester, Massachusetts.19 He died on March 24, 1803.20 He was buried in
Pelham, Hampshire, Massachusetts.21

7. Solomon TEMPLE was born on April 25, 1747 in Shrewsbury, Worcester,
Massachusetts.22,23 He died on March 7, 1825 in Heath, Franklin,

Bought the place now owned by Ray Dickinson, and his brother Seth, the one
just below, the home of the late Mrs. Nellie Clarke. It was said the two
brothers wished to build houses opposite, but Seth had to build father down
the hill because of the water supply.

He was married to Abigail HAYDEN on May 20, 1771.25,26 Abigail HAYDEN was
born on May 30, 1746 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts.27,28 She died
on January 21, 1817 in Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.29 Solomon TEMPLE and
Abigail HAYDEN had the following children:

Franklin, Massachusetts.30 of Duxbury, Washington, Vt.

10. Seth TEMPLE was born on February 21, 1753 in Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts.31,32 He died on January 22, 1824 in Heath, Franklin,

Lived where Mrs. Clarke lived. Enlisted in 1777 and served at the taking
of Burgoyne. He enlisted again in 1779, and was at New London. There were
eight children.

He was married to Martha HUNT on May 24, 1783 in Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts.34,35 Martha HUNT was born on April 2, 1758.36 She died on
February 15, 1825 in Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.37 She was buried in
Centre Cemetery, Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.38 Seth TEMPLE and Martha
HUNT had the following children:

She was married to Thomas BOND.45 Zebuda TEMPLE and Thomas BOND had the

She was married to Timothy WATERS in 1822. Timothy WATERS Int. Marriage on
April 14, 1822 in Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.46 of Leyden, Mass.

THIRD GENERATION
13. Elizabeth MC CRELLIS was born on August 2, 1774 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.47 She died on June 26, 1839 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.48 Death recorded in Congregational Church Record Book,
Colrain, Mass. Elizabeth inherited the McCrellis homestead on the site of
the original settlement, which remains in the Coombs family to this day.

She was married to Jonathan COOMBS (son of John COOMBS and Mary BRIDGE) about
1809 in Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.49,50 Jonathan COOMBS was born on
March 8, 1769 in Bellingham, Norfolk, Massachusetts.51 He died on August 9,
1853 in Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.52 Elizabeth MC CRELLIS and
Jonathan COOMBS had the following children:

14. William MC CRELLIS was born about 1779 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.53 He died on September 10, 1849 in Colrain, Franklin,
Massachusetts.54

He was married to Elizabeth about 1803.55 Elizabeth was born in 1781.56 She
died on July 26, 1837 in Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.57,58 She was
buried in Chandler Hill Cemetery, Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.59 p. 17

Elizabeth wife of Wm. McCrellis died 26 Jul 1837, age 56. William MC
CRELLIS and Elizabeth had the following children:

Massachusetts.60 He died on March 24, 1834 in Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts.61 He was buried in Centre Cemetery, Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts.62

He was married to Polly STONE on November 27, 1806 in Heath, Franklin,
Massachusetts.63 Polly STONE was born on March 9, 1781.64 She died on June
9, 1836 in Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.65 Nathaniel TEMPLE and Polly
STONE had the following children:

Richard, a son of Solomon, bought a lot in North Heath, which is the farm
belonging to his granddaughter, Mrs. Jesse. Thompson. He cleared the place
and built a log-cabin which sttod northeast of the present house.

He was married to Eunice CHRISTIE (daughter of William CHRISTIE and Hannah)
in 1808. Eunice CHRISTIE was born on January 16, 1788.77 Richard TEMPLE and
Eunice CHRISTIE had the following children:

in 1806. Rebena CHRISTIE was baptized on April 20, 1788 in Heath, Franklin,
