1. Asa CHILDS was born on June 3, 1715 in Deerfield, Franklin,
Massachusetts.1,2 He died on June 28, 1756 in Deerfield, Franklin,

Lived at the north end of the Street on the side hill, the house fronting
south; lived in Shelburne, also; in 1792 his widow was "of Shelburne, also of
Deerfield," when widow. Esther Williams sued her for medicines furnished her
husband, Dr. Williams, in 1772; Sergt. in the Old French war.
He was married to Rhoda WRIGHT (daughter of Capt. Benjamin WRIGHT) on
October 31, 1737 in Deerfield, Franklin, Massachusetts.4,5 Rhoda WRIGHT died

She was a noted doctor, and had a very extensive practice in obstetrics;
was alive in 1783; probably died in 1800; "Aunt Sylvia Munn" said she used to
keep her accounts with chalk on the cellar door. Asa CHILDS and Rhoda WRIGHT

Samuel was so common that nick-names were also common and quite convenient.
He was married to Eunice WRIGHT (daughter of Noah WRIGHT) on September 22,

Connecticut.115 He died on April 16, 1816 in Chazy, Clinton, New York.116

It is likely that Jabez Ransom, son of Newton, came to Shelburne with his
father and by 1780 had married and established a home of his own. In 1796,
Jabez owned real estate valued at $1,427 which inform as us that he was a
well-to-do man. In 1798, Jabez was a selectman. He was a close neighbor of
