The mother of Samuel, Jr., Hannah, spent the last few years of her life at
Whately, where she was tenderly cared for by her son and his estimable wife.
When the volunteers went to the front she supplied a pair of socks or some
needful article. She was blind at last dying 12 May, 1865 at the age of 101
yrs, 4 months, 12 days. Samuel LESURE and Hannah CUMMINGS had the following
children:
i. Chole LESURE was born on 20 Nov 1785 in Wardsboro, Windham,
Vermont. She died on 30 Jun 1846 in Montague, Franklin, Massachusetts. She

The Lesures were descendants of the Virginia Hugenots. It is probable
that Samuel senior was born in Virginia and came with his parents to his
parents to Uxbridge and removed thence he removed to Leverett and then to
Warwick Mr. Lesure was for forty-one years the postmaster and for
thirty-eight years town clerk For many years in trade Whately, retaining the
respect of his townsmen to the last.
iii. Capt. Cummings LESURE was born on 15 Feb 1788. He Int.
Marriage on 13 Jul 1811 in Warwick, Franklin, Massachusetts. He died on 13
Aug 1841.

v. Nancy LESURE was born on 24 Feb 1796 in Leverett, Franklin,
Massachusetts. She died on 4 Jun 1864 in Warwick, Franklin, Massachusetts.
