Hi Laura - I'm guessing here, but I think there is a small problem...if I'm reading this correctly Zebulon died 2 July 1780, but was married on 3 Aug 1780 and fathered children after he died?

My concern is specifically a John PIERCE with a birthdate of 11 Aug 1797. Following is what I have been able to find, but none of it PROVES that John was born in eaither NY or MA, and I have only one source that says John is the 9th child of Zebulon. What I have been able to find in the history books has not confirmed this.

Information I have on Zebulon PIERCE is that he left Colrain, MA, for Cortland Co., NY in 1805. I believe that his brother Judah followed him close in time to NY.

H.C. Goodwin, PIONEER HISTORY, OR, CORTLAND COUNTY ON THE BORDER WARS OF NEW YORK FROM THE EARLIEST PERIOD TO THE PRESENT TIME; -1859; A.B. Burdick, No. 8 Spruce St., NY, 1859; Unindexed, 16 Chapters, 456pp; mostly "wars";
p.207 - Truxton - p. 210 - "The Pierces were from Colerain. Zebulon migrated in 1805, and located on lot 34. He reared a family of 11 children -4 now [1859] living." "Judah settled in 1806 on lot 12. He left 8 children - 3 reside in the West. Ethan lives on the homestead. Mr. Pierce accumulated a large property; was an influential citizen. He died at the age of 70."

A HISTORY OF COLRAIN MASSACHUSETTS, With Genealogies of Early Families, by Lois McClellan Patrie; [probably late 1800s]; reviewed at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah, Call No. US/CAN 974-42/C3 H2p, 28 Jul 1998.
This book shows a John born to Zebulon in 1792, but who died in 1785. No mention is made of a John born in 1797, although it may be feasilbe that he was born. The records do not show this.

The following information was sent to me, stating that my John is the 9th child of Zebulon, which means he would have been born in MA. My family records, however, indicate that he was born in NY. I have searched the early records of Onondaga and Cortland (out of Onondage in 1810) counties in Salt Lake and have found no evidence that I need for proof one way or the other.

The lists of children do not match in any of the sources, causing more need to find the real facts!

Your assistance in solving this, my REAL BRICK WALL, would be most gratefully accepted.
