John Wilson was a Colonel in the militia. He marched with a
Connecticut Valley regient in the defense of Boston during the War of
1812. John was active in local affairs serving as a census marshall in
1850. He was an agent for western land companies and was involved in
locating lands and layout out townships. John was a prominent
agriculturist, inventor and manufacturere of farming implements. From
1816 to 1819, he had a publishing house and book bindery where he
published books which were sold by agents throughout New England and in
other states.
