Good morning folks!
Like I am interested in the oldest cemeteries in Greenfield.
In the book "After the King Philips War" it is noted that in 1696 there
was a raid
on Greenfield by the Mohawks. They took a family named Belding away.
What I am wondering is did that family (any part of it) come back to
Greenfield
and were they mixed with native? Or did they stay and propogate? Then
later
did they come back to the Greenfield area?
There was a Belding family in Montague in the 1830's that later moved to
Sandisfield,
Henry Belding (Belden) and his wife Mary. They had a farm in Montague.
I am looking for where it was. Any information and the source would be
appreciated.

I'm looking for some information regarding my wife's Eagan(Egan)
ancestors. My wife's great grandfather was Garrett Eagan who died in 1877
in Northampton. I recently found a reference to a Garritt Eagan in the
1850 Franklin County, MA census.

That census indicated that Garritt was 63 years old at the time of the
census. There is no further reference to him.

I'm trying to determine if that Garritt is the father of my wife's great
grandfather. I'd also like to determine exactly when he died(most probably
between 1850 and 1860) and where he is buried.

Does anyone know the names of cemeteries in existence between 1850 and
1860 in Greenfield and does anyone know the name of the closest Catholic
cemetery to the Greenfield area for that era ?
