Your information is basically accurate-though I did find one discrepency between what you said and my experience.

I was at the Franklin County Register of Deeds office not long ago and found the deeds I needed - one dated 1792. It appears that Franklin County keeps copies of those earlier deeds for land that currently lies in Franklin County. The records I found were bound print outs from microfilm and they will makecopies for you from the original films. It may well be true that the original deeds are in Hampshire County.

I have not found that to be the case with probate records, though - those are in Northampton.
