David was born in 1813 in Stanstead County, Quebec, Canada as a MAGOON. For reasons not documented yet, changed it to MCGOON.

Found the following in the 1850 Lyndon, Sheboygan Co, WI Census, page 145 taken 4 Sep 1850.

David McGoon, 36, m, farmer, b. Canada
Delia McGoon, 30, f, b. New York
Richard McGoon, 12,b. Ohio (note: Richard not child of Delilia but probably son of David's first wife which we believe is Nancy SEEBY at this time)
David McGoon, 7, b. Ohio
Sarah McGoon, 6, b. Wisconsin (this moves David McGoon from Geauga or Lake Co Ohio to Wisconsin sometime 1842-1844)
George McGoon,4,b. Wisconsin
Joseph McGoon, 2,b. Wisconsin
