I'll add a couple of comments to this string...
Hampshire Co. was a very big area for 150 years. Suffield, CT, was in
Hampshire Co., MA, at one time also. I have found early wills for Suffield
ancestors filed in Hampshire Co. Suffield wasn't ceded to CT until 1749.

For records pertaining to Montague, you will need to check the town records
and the records of both counties to be sure you have found everything.
