I was at Hampshire County Registry of Probate this morning (Northampton, MA),
and checked the index card file for Pillingers. Only two. Victoria S.
Pillinger, box 390 no 85, Williamsburg 1915, and Walter E. Pillinger, box 465 no 32,
Williamsburg 1929.
Victoria's probate file lists next of kin as Walter E Pillinger husband, Ella
Hemenway of Williamsburg daughter, Emma Jackson of Worcester daughter, and
Fred A Shumway of Williamsburg son. Victoria died Jan. 22 1915.
Walter's probate file lists next of kin as Mary Ann Rebecca Conebeere of
Sydney Australia niece, Henry Nekun Kibbey of Bristol England nephew, Amy Maud
Wiltshire of Bristol England niece, Florence Annie Mawnder of Bristol England
niece, Ella Rose Kibbey of Bristol England niece. Document says "All five above
named nieces and nephews are children of Mrs. E. R. Kibbey, sister of Walter E.
Pillinger. She died June 17 1929"
Walter died June 25 1929.
Walter's will, dated March 18 1915, leaves $500 to his sister Mrs. E. R.
Kibbey of 16 Bridge Street, Royate Hill, Upper Eastville, Bristol, England, and
the rest of his estate to his stepdaughter Mrs. Emma A. Jackson of Worcester.
Obituaries below are from the Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northamton MA), and
were found in the Williamsburg column.

W.E. Pillinger Dies of Sudden Attack
Williamsburg, June 26. - William E. Pillinger, 76, while in the pasture after
his cows yesterday, died suddenly of heart trouble from which he had long
suffered. His stepdaughter, Mrs. Emma Jackson, who has kept house for him many
years, went out on the piazza to move the chairs away from the shower and as she
looked across the road she saw her stepfather lying on the ground. She
telephoned her brother, Fred A. Shumway, who lives nearby, and Dr. J. G. Hayes from
the village.
Mr. Pillinger was born in Bristol, Eng., and came to this country when 15
years of age. He worked in New York city and in the mines of Wisconsin. For
several years he was a gardener for the Clarke school at Northampton. He bought the
farm 35 years ago in the north part of the town where he died. Fifty years
ago he married Mrs. Victoria Shumway, who died some years ago. He leaves no near
relatives except three stepchildren: Mrs. Jackson, Fred A. Shumway and Mrs.
E. P. Hemenway. There was also a ssiter in England, but she is supposed to have
died recently.
The funeral will be held at the Congregational chapel Thursday afternoon at
2, Rev. John P. Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Village Hill cemetery.

PS Someone in England helped me out with research at the PRO, and I'm
thrilled to be able to pass the good deed back across the ocean.
