Hi, everyone,

Greetings again from a cold and frosty Somerset (we are having our first
frosts of the winter -- -4 degrees Centigrade -- cold by our
standards!!!!)

Following the success of finding our Walter's details, may I be allowed to
ask one supplementary question, please. Can anybody find where he was in
1870. Being only 16 when he came to the States, it is unlikely he 'paid his
way'. More likely he ran away to sea, signing on as a cabin boy, jumping
ship in Boston or New York. Many ships were going from Bristol to the States
in the mid 19th century, so he had plenty of opportunity, and I have lots of
lists to study. Narrowing the choice of Port of Entry could be a great help

Regards

Fred
