Quartermaster Sergeant Charles K. Fiske was reduced to the ranks at his own
request on June 1. Corporal Chester W. French was promoted to be quartermaster
sergeant, and Private Fiske was appointed corporal, vice French, promoted.

Private Herbert A. Miller was appointed corporal on November 2, in
recognition of his heroism in remaining in Cuba to care for a sick comrade, this
appointment being made to fill the vacancy caused by Corporal Belleville's death.
