Hi,
How old was this William Ferguson in the 1840 census? Do you know the names
of his children?
In the 1850 USC the only William Ferguson in Eastport is a seaman, age 28,
born in Sweeden. No Sarah Ferguson in Eastport either.
Good Luck,
Janice Gower

I'm too lazy to do it myself. Let me explain.

office in Waltham, Massachusetts, for an intense search of census records.
It was near the end of the seven hours that I spent there, that I came to a
volume with an index for the 1850 census for Maine. There was my
gt-gt-grandfather William FERGUSON living in Eastport (I knew it was him
from a few cross-references to Eastport in other documents.) I got the
microfilm and searched it twice but couldn't find William (who by then had
a wife, Sarah, and some of his 6 children).

there also, for Eastport, page 267. If anyone has an easy library access to
the census, I would be most grateful if they would have another peek for me.
I'd love to know what it says about gt-grandad and his family, and still
can't understand why I couldn't find them.
