Subject: [MAINE] Samuel WILKINS ... in Aroostook County in 1840 and 1850 Census (wife: Leeta)
Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2002 08:32:11 -0500
Hello...
I was wondering if anyone had any information on Samuel and Leeta Wilkins ..
who were living in Amity, ME, (past age 60) in the 1840 and 1850 Census.
In particular, I would like to know who his parents were, and what year they
migrated to Aroostook County. On the 1850 Census, if I am reading it
correctly, Samuel is listed as having been born in Maine .. in 1780.
I believe only one Wilkins man was on the 1790 Census for Maine, and that
was David Wilkins in Lincoln County. But, I just saw mention of a
Darius Wilkins in the early history of Norway, ME.
In the 1790 Census there were many Wilkins families in both NH and MA. I
have found one other researcher studying these families in ME. Is
anyone else researching the Wilkins families who migrated to Maine ...
between 1780 and 1820?
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
