Subject: [MAINE] Samuel Smith Jr b. 1816, possibly Readfield, Kennebec Co.

Hello,
I'm looking for information on my great-great-grandfather Samuel Smith Jr.
who was born in 1816 in Maine. Samuel Jr. left Maine and lived in Iowa
until his death in 1877.
I've found a family in Readfield, Kennebec Co. that he seems to fit. They
are Samuel and Sally (Davis) Smith who married in 1815 and had a son Samuel
in 1816, as well as sons Sumner (1819), Salmon (1821), Silmon (1823),
Sorranus (1825), and daughter Mary (1829). This Salmon married a Julia
Jackson in 1854. This couple had children John, Luella, Addie, Lettie, and
Myrtie.
Some of the connections to this family that make this seem like a good fit
are the names Silmon (my Samuel's eldest son named his son Silmon) and Addie
and Lettie (my Samuel had daughters named Adda and Lettie).
If anyone has information to help prove or dispove the link to this family
or any further information on them, please let me know.
