Hi Robert:
The 1880 federal census shows your Gertrude as being the daughter of
Clarence W. LARCUM and wife Georgiana A. Larcum.
Also enumerated with Gertrude was brother Henry B. Larcum.
Here's what it says:
Census Place: Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island
Source: FHL Film 1255211 NARA T9-1211 page 475C

Clarence W. LARCUM, age 28, born in CT, occ: engineer, both of his parents
born in CT
Georgiana A. LARCUM, wife, age 22, born in ME, her father b. in Nova Scotia,
her mother b. in Maine, occ: "keeping house"
Gertrude M. LARCUM, daughter, age 2, born in CT
Henry B. LARCUM, son, age 4 months, born in RI

If you've been having difficulty tracing them, it's no doubt due to the
variation in the spelling of surname.
