I have looked in both the 1870 and 1880 census for ME and was unable to
find Clara or George.

The only Sears female, aged 7 in 1870, born in Maine, is a Sarah Sears
of Eastport, Washington Co. ME. There is also a Nellie Sears, aged 6 in
Portland. There is a Clara Sears b. 1864, living in Nahant, MA in 1880
and another living in Franklin, MA. both were born in MA. .

I was able to find George and Clara in 1910 in Lowell Village,
Snohomish, WA. Children: Arthur, 12, and Mabel, 16, were born in
Massachusetts. Both of Clara's parents were born in ME. Her age is given
as 40 and his is given as 49, they have been married for 26 years. She
had a total of 6 children, of whom 4 are still living. George
immigrated in 1880 and has applied for his citizenship papers. His
father was born "at sea" and his mother was born in Scotland.

George and Clara are living in Somerville, Middlesex, MA in 1900. His
birthdate is given as Dec 1859. Hers is Mar 1863. Her birth location is
now given as Newfoundland! Four children are Lilian (Nov 1884), Walter
(Jan 1888), Mabel, (June 1892) and Ray (July 1897). Birthplaces for the
children are MA, MA, Nova Scotia, and MA. Immigration date for George
and Clara is now given as 1893 (after the birth of Mabel). Still says
she is the mother of 6, 4 still living so the first 2 must have been
born before 1900- maybe between Lilian and Walter and between Mabel and Ray.

They might have married in MA. I would write to the Mass Archives and
ask for a search for a marriage of George and Clara about 1883. Should
give both parents.
