Greetings Maine-L subscribers,

Jeff brings up a good question about what is appropriate to post
on this list. However, any time anyone wonders about what is
appropriate to post, the best way to find out is to ask the List
Administrator, since that is the person who makes the decisions
about what may be posted. The address for the Administrator
of this list is . Using this addy will
always get the message to the correct person.

Now, the answer to the question is that there are Rootsweb lists
for some genealogical societies:
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Genealogical_Societies/
and a specific one for family reunions:
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/FAMILY-REUNIONS.html

but no specific list for genealogy events in Maine. So, it is OK to
post an announcement about a genealogy event in Maine to this
list. However, please remember that it is always best to post to
the most specific list first, so be sure to post to the appropriate
county list as well as this statewide list.

When you post about an event, please be sure to include full
information, including directions and an address where more
information may be obtained. Questions about the event are
best addressed to the person who posted the information, not
to this list.

Any questions about this topic should be addressed to me at the
address .

Regards,
Sharyn Hay
Maine-L Administrator
