Hi,
I've done a few census checks for your Spencers.
I don't find an Alfred and Elmer associated in Maine census.
Was your Elmer in Boston in 1900? If so, is this his family?
Note that Elmer is b Maine, wife Laura, Canada. and that he has a sister Ella.
1900 census, ED 1527, Boston- W24, Suffolk, MA, p290A
20 Granite Avenue [duplex]
Spencer, Elmer E. head b May 1861 age 39 mar 9 yrs ME/ME/ME store clerk
Spencer, Laura ?J. wife b Aug 1874 age 25 mar 9 yrs, 2 child-2 liv, Nova
Scotia/England/Nova Scotia
Spencer, Audrey H. dau b May 1892 age 8 MA/ME/Nova Scotia
Spencer, Raymond son b Dec 1895 age 4 Nova Scotia/Maine/Nova Scotia
Fifield, Ella sister b Oct 1854 age 45 widow no children ME/ME/ME
I did find "Albert" Spencer in Maine 1870 census with a daughter Ella, and
an Elmer a couple residences away in another household.
If you think this 1870 info might be helpful, let me know, and I'll send it
along.
Regards,
Justine
